LITRAK GROUP CHINESE NEW YEAR CHARITY EVENT AT RUMAH CHARIS

Date:31/01/2011

IN the midst of festive season, there are others who are less fortunate. As a loving community, these people should not be forgotten and it is our duty to bring the festive season happiness to them.

Just like previous years, Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (LITRAK) and Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd, the highway concessionaire of Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong and SPRINT Highway organized a Chinese New Year charity program which is part of our continuous community service.

This year, some 20 senior citizens from a privately run charity home from Rumah Charis was chosen as the beneficiary for the charity event hosted by LITRAK Group. It is hoped that this sincere move will help the recipients to experience the ongoing joy of Chinese New Year and this continuous community service by LITRAK Group will be an ongoing exercise by the concessionaire towards the society.

Present as the guest of honor was Malaysian Highway Authority Director General Y.Bhg. Dato' Ir Hj Ismail Md Salleh. Also present, LITRAK's Chief Executive Officer, Sazally Saidi.

"The general public only saw the tolled highways as money collectors when in actual fact there were hundreds of CSR being undertaken by the concessions. This is what we call "giving it back" to the community. It has to look beyond profits and look at nation-building and CSR is one way of doing so to achieve the objective of 1Malaysia", Ismail commented.

At the event, LITRAK Group brought to cheer to the senior citizens with a presentation of 'ang pow', goody bags and hampers to the home followed by a sumptuous lunch.

LITRAK GROUP SHARES CHRISTMAS CHEER WITH SENIOR CITIZENS

LITRAK GROUP SHARES CHRISTMAS CHEER WITH SENIOR CITIZENS

FOR some 15 residents of an old folks home in Sg Buloh, having visitors means loads of fun and they look forward to this excitement to keep them going.

When they heard that LITRAK Group was organizing a lunch for them in conjunction with Christmas, they were thrilled.

LITRAK Group spent an afternoon with the residents of Maranatha Home recently, having lunch with the senior citizens with sing-along sessions in conjunction with the Christmas celebrations.

Dorrice Lee Cheng Siew, 72, who has been at the home for three years now, turned songbird for a day and rendered two songs to entertain the visitors and residents. She also participated with enthusiasm in a spot dance event.

Octogenarian Parvathy O.M.Krishnan Nair who has been with the home for just months was just too excited and overwhelmed with the turn of events for the day that she could not stop talking about how happy she was.

Maranatha Home founder Jeyabal Devid expressed his gratitude to Litrak Group for bringing happiness to the residents of the home. "This kind gesture will go a long way in making these senior citizens feel wanted and appreciated. The problem with most senior citizens is that they often feel neglected and unwanted and as we can see today, their enthusiasm in showing off their skills is testimony that they have a desire to be accepted within the community and a lead a very normal life within their capacity", he said.

Present to give away the goodies to the senior citizens was Litrak Group Chief Operating Officer Richard Lim who said that it had become a  practice for Litrak management to take time-off to be with the less fortunate for every major festival. "The senior management makes it a point to be present personally to be with the less fortunate, as part of giving back to the community" he said.

Bank Rakyat, in supporting Litrak’scorporate responsibility event sponsored some hampers to be given away to Maranatha Home.

Culmination of NIE at SK Sri Damai, Section 17, Petaling Jaya - Book Donation and Prize Giving

Date:13/11/2008

SPRINT in partnership with SK Sri Damai and NST completed its Education Program of sponsoring newspaper and this is a culmination of SPRINT's Educational Programme which was firstly held last July.

'Newspaper In Education(NIE) is a cooperative effort between New Straits Times and SPRINT where copies of the papers were delivered to the school for 17 weeks. I understand that the newspapers were put to good use cutting across subject barriers although it was meant to be for English Language classes. I wish to congratulate the school and its teachers for their creativity and innovation as they have proven that English language cannot be taught and learnt in isolation', said SPRINT's Head of Operational, Nor Azman Ishak.

As a corporate organization we believe education is the single most important factor in a person attaining success and English as we know is indispensable. As we grow towards becoming a developed Nation, boundaries disappear and we are faced with Globalisation and this is when use of English becomes imperative.

With reference to the above, we would like to clarify that a section of SPRINT highway near the Section 17 traffic light junction had to be washed on 2 June following an accident. A lorry carrying milk cans overturned at the said section and the road had to be washed immediately. This is a normal/ standard safety procedure after any spillage. It is unfortunate that the cleaning had to be carried out during peak time, but only to prevent further mishaps.

Two Take Home More Than Memories From Fun Run

Date:14/06/2004
(Star,14 June 2004) Insurance executive Lim Shu Cheng and lawyer B.Shahalane were the biggest winners in the Penchala Tunnel Fun Run at MontKiara yesterday.

The 27 year-old Lim, who was participating in a run for the first time, won the grand prize in the lucky draw which was a holiday package for two to Perth, Australia. Shahalane, who took part in the run with her family members, won a Modenas Kriss motorcycle in the lucky draw.

It took some time for Lim to realize her triumph in the run, which was a part of the Sunrise-University Tuanku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) fundraising campaign.

I am excited as I took part in the run for fun. My sister will be going with me to Perth, said Lim.

Shahalane, who does not have a motorcycle licence was mobbed by her family members when her number was called, I do not know what to say but I am very happy, said Shahalane after receiving her prize from Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, who had earlier flagged off the run.

Lim and Shahalane were among the 1,600 participants in the Penchala Tunnel Run Run, which had five categories 10km and 5km for adults, 5km for children, fancy dress (5km) and corporate (5km).

The run was organized by Sunrise Bhd and Sistem Penyuraian Trafik Kuala Lumpur Barat Sdn Bhd (Sprint). Co-organising chairman Joachim Ng said the run was a big success and response was beyond expectation.

We had expected about 1,000 participants. We were initially quite worried because in the beginning, the response was not encouraging. Then the entries started pouring in two weeks ago.

We also wanted to encourage Malaysians to adopt a healthy lifestyle. The run provided all the opportunities for a family outing,' added Ng.

The Penchala Tunnel Fun Run raised RM100,000. The Sunrise-UTAR fundraising campaign was launched last year with the aim of raising RM1 mil for the UTAR Building Fund. So far, RM900,000 has been collected.

Participants had to go through the 710m-long Penchala Tunnel an

MARC reaffirms SPRINT debt ratings

Date:29/03/2004
Malaysian Rating Agency Corporation Bhd (MARC) has reaffirmed the long-term rating of Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd's (SPRINT) RM510 million Al-Bai Bithaman Ajil Islamic debt securities and the short-term rating of the Revolving Underwritten Facility of up to RM125 million at A?CID (Single A Minus, Islamic Debt) and MARC-2 respectively.

The long term rating of SPRINT's RM365 million Bank Guaranteed Serial Fixed Rate Bonds has been upgraded from A- (Single A Minus) to A(bg) (Single A, bank guaranteed).

The rating upgrade is based on the rating given to the consortium of banks providing the unconditional and irrevocable guarantees as to the timely payment of the interest and principal payment. The " rating evaluation is based on a 'weak-link' approach.

The rating reaffirmation reflects the encouraging traffic volume at both the Kerinchi and Damansara links in FY2003 while overall traffic volume is expected to be enhanced further following the recent opening of the Penchala Link.

Furthermore, MARC also takes comfort from the conservative projections for both the Damansara and Kerinchi tolls and the fact that construction on Package C (Penchala Link) has been completed. However, moderating the above strengths are the uncertainties surrounding the long-term traffic growth and toll sensitivity of road users.

Network of highways to bypass Klang Valley snarls

Date:26/02/2004
DRIVING has become a little less stressful for residents of Mont' Kiara, Desa Sri Hartamas, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kampung Sungai Penchala, Mutiara Damansara and Damansara Perdana with the recent launch of the Sprint Penchala Link. Meanwhile, residents of USJ, Subang Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Kampung Medan are looking forward to the opening of the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) Subang-Kuala Lumpur route, which will bypass daily traffic snarls on the Federal Highway near the Motorola flyover. Both new highways open up many options for motorists on their daily commute to the city.

Bandar Sri Damansara and Kota Damansara residents, for example, have had a hard time heading into the city, more so after the part closure of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) following the Bukit Lanjan landslide. The most viable route from this area to the city is via the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) through Taman Tun Dr Ismail and onto Jalan Damansara. Denied the usual route to the north, some motorists have chosen to head south from Kota Damansara, exiting the NKVE at Damansara before heading into the city via Jalan Damansara (also know as the Sprint Damansara Link). Regular congestion at the Damansara toll plaza dissuades most road users from using this route during peak hours. Another route, via Jalan Sungai Buloh and through Kepong, is also heavily used to head north.

Motorists also reach the city by using the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) on a circuitous journey before heading into the city at Jalan Ampang, Jalan Cheras or using the KL-Ampang Elevated Highway to get onto Jalan Sultan Ismail. With the Penchala Link now open, the same commuters from Sri Damansara now have an alternate route into and out of the city.

By using the same route on the LDP, commuters from Bandar Sri Damansara can now opt to enter the Penchala Link at the Damansara Interchange. Similarly, commuters from Mutiara Damansara and Sunway Damansara exit to the LDP via Persiaran Surian, through the underpass near Ikano Power Centre and Ikea before entering Penchala Link. This route runs parallel to Jalan Damansara, and motorists exit at Mont' Kiara, where they can make their way to Jalan Kuching, Jalan Duta or the Sprint Kerinchi Link. This route bypasses the busy Section 16 in Petaling Jaya and Jalan Maarof (turning into Bangsar) junctions.

The Penchala Link also allows traffic from the south on the NKVE (Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Klang) an option to exit at Kota Damansara to take the link instead of exiting at Damansara. A toll of RM2 will be charged at Penchala Link beginning March 16. As for the NPE, which is expected to open at the end of the month, Subang Jaya and USJ residents will have to pay toll twice from Subang to Kuala Lumpur - one at the PJS 5 toll plaza and another at the Pantai Dalam Interchange. The toll rate has not been determined yet.

USJ and Subang Jaya residents can get to the NPE via Jalan Tujuan heading to Bandar Sunway and Kampung Medan, where motorists will be separated from local traffic by an elevated highway over Jalan Kelang Lama, which will provide unhindered traffic flow. The highway will bring commuters onto Jalan Bangsar, where they can proceed to the city via Jalan Travers.

A recent trip from Subang Jaya to Bangsar with NPE officials on the yet-to-be-opened expressway took 13 minutes, a far cry from the massive jams faced by commuters making their way into the city via the Federal Highway or the LDP. The entire expressway will be completed in April. It will incorporate eight interchanges at Jalan Kewajipan, Jalan PJS 8/1, Taman Maju Jaya, Jalan Templer, Pantai Dalam, Seri Pantai, Pantai Baru and Taman Desa and will connect to the Shah Alam Expressway, LDP, Federal Highway, KL-Seremban Highway and Sungai Besi. Work is also progressing on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), which will connect Bukit Jelutong in Shah Alam to Kuang, near Rawang. The GCE will have three toll plazas, a three-lane dual carriageway and dedicated motorcycle lanes.

Plans are also underway to build a new expressway called the New North Klang Valley Expressway as an extension to the Penchala Link. Construction could begin as early as the end of the year and the expressway should be completed in two to three years. Stretching 23km long, the proposed expressway will serve Kota Damansara, Subang 2, Bandar Pinggiran Subang, Bukit Subang, Kayangan Heights and Shah Alam Two.

ITS Pantau Keselamatan Lalu Lintas Penchala Link

Date:25/02/2004

Links Opens Amid Keen Attention

Date:18/02/2004
Motorists now enjoy a smoother ride from west of Kuala Lumpur to the city centre with the opening of Penchala Link on Monday, six months ahead of schedule.

Many motorists from Mont Kiara, Desa Sri Hartamas, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kampung Sungai Penchala, Mutiara Damansara dan Damansara Perdana began to use the link instead of the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) and Jalan Damansara to the city centre.

According to the motorists interviewed, the alternative route has shortened the duration of their journey to less than 10 minutes.

While some wanted to become the earliest to use the RM450mil highway on the opening day, others were simply curious about the much talked about twin-bored tunnel near Kampung Sungai Penchala.

Businessman Wan Rusli Wan Muda brought along his son to check out the highway, especially the tunnel. It seems that the tunnel has a beautiful Islamic design. We came to have a look. My son was particularly excited, as he had been asking me when it would open, he said.

He said he would probably start using Penchala Link to travel from his house in Bandar Sri Damansara to work in Desa Sri Hartamas.

S.Ravindran, 47, who works as a security guard in Plaza MontKiara, said motorists would find it convenient to travel from Mont Kiara to the city centre.

Another motorist, Muhammad Abdul Rashid, 20, who lives in Kota Damansara, said the Penchala Link provided a better shortcut although motorists had already enjoyed a lot of convenience since the opening of LDP.

He said he would now use the Penchala Link to go to work in Plaza MontKiara. He hoped that the Government would adjust the toll charge to 50sen given that the highway was only 5.5km long.

Toll charges at the Bukit Kiara toll plaza are waived for two weeks.

While for many the highway may just be another road to make travelling more convenient, it stands as a monument of change for Kampung Sungai Penchala residents who have plenty of memories regarding the site.

Siti Zahara Sabirin, 61, who lives near the tunnel, said she was happy that the highway was completed. 'When they were bulding the highway, we faced may problems such excessive noise and cracked houses as a result of the project.

'However, they had compensated us and we are happy now', she said when met at a shelter booth near the tunnel with her neighbours and friends.

Her brother Zubir, 66, recalled that he used to have a durian orchard at t

Tol kereta RM2 di Penchala Link

Date:17/02/2004

Hadir sama Pengerusi Sprint Sdn Bhd, Yusoff Daud.

Penchala Link sejauh 5.5 kilometer (km) itu melengkapkan rangkaian Sprint yang mengandungi tiga bahagian iaitu Kerinchi Link (11.5 km) dan Damansara Link sepanjang 8.5 km.

Nod for New Expressway in Klang Valley

Date:16/02/2004
A new expressway is in the pipeline to link the various development projects in the fast-growing northern part of the Klang Valley, located west of Kuala Lumpur.

Sources said the Government has given the green light for Sistem Penyuraian Trafik KL Barat Sdn Bhd (or SPRINT) to proceed with the detailed design.

Construction could begin at the end of this year and be completed in two to three years, said the sources.

The 23km expressway, to be called the New North Klang Valley Expressway, will be an extension of SPRINTs Penchala Link, which opens today.

This would allow users to get to Jalan Duta directly and then proceed to the Kuala Lumpur city centre, added the sources.

The new expressway is expected to begin at the Damansara Puchong Expressway (LDP) at the junction with Persiaran Surian in Mutiara Damansara and end at Shah Alam-Puncak Alam road near Bandar Puncak Alam.

The expressway will be elevated above Persiaran Surian from the LDP to the bridge over the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE). It will then be on ground level for the rest of the way, the sources said.

While most of its alighnments would be new, parts of the expressway would go over existing roads such as Persiaran Surian and the Sungai Buloh-Batu Tiga road between the Rubber Research Institure and Kampung Melayu Subang, they said.

These stretches would be upgraded to expressway standard, with six lanes and proper interchanges.

The expressway would have six interchanges and one of them would be with the Guthrie Corridor Expressway which is currently under construction.

The alignment would serve many development projects, such as Kota Damansara, Subang 2, Bandar Pinggiran Subang, Bukit Subang, Kayangan Heights and Shah Alam Two.

It would also provide a faster and more direct way to Bandar Puncak Alam and adjacent developments, including the proposed new University Teknology Mara campus. 'By 2010, the whole area is expected to

PENCHALA LINK KURANGKAN KESESAKAN KORIDOR BARAT KL

Date:05/02/2004
